Where to get one?
The Ivy Bake Shoppe Cookbook was published in March 2007. It includes over 140 recipes that are favorites in the Ivy kitchen~recipes from friends, customers, and family. Over 20,000 cookbooks are all over the country, and a few have even made it around the world. During cooking demonstrations, I always mention that I'm not a chef, and these recipes are really "mom in the kitchen, user friendly recipes!" The cookbooks are currently available at Courtyard Book Store in Keokuk; The Iowa Store in Burlington; The Book Vault in Oskaloosa, The Bookmark Book Store in Fort Madison, as well as both Ivy stores. Although the cookbooks are no longer available online, you can read reviews of the book at amazon.com or bn.com. Recipe from Cookbook: Springtime Chicken Grape Salad
5 cups of cooked, chopped chicken 2 cups green or red grapes, cut in half 1 cup diced celery 1 1/2 cups mayonnaise 2 tbsp. lemon juice 2 tsp. celery salt 1 tsp. coarse pepper Toasted pecans * Mix the first three ingredients together in a bowl. In a smaller bowl, stir mayonnaise, lemon juice, and seasonings together. Mix with the chicken mixture and adjust seasonings as needed. Garnish with toasted pecans. Makes 8 servings. * To toast pecans, place 2 cups of pecan pieces on cookie sheet with 1 tbsp. of butter and 2 tsp. of salt. Heat in 350 oven for 5 minutes, stirring the butter as it melts. Continue for a couple more minutes. Watch carefully so they don't burn!
